Ianto was concerned.

He'd been watching Suzie for the last few weeks and she was beginning to act strangely. More focussed on her work. She spent every spare moment working on the Glove and her single-minded determination was worrying. Nobody else seemed to notice anything was wrong and Ianto wondered if maybe he was overreacting. After all, they all spent more time at Torchwood than they needed to. Suzie having a strong work ethic wasn't anything to worry about. But sometimes when Ianto took her coffee there was a strange gleam in her eye that worried him.

He couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen. Although he had to admit, working for Torchwood something bad did happen every other day. Ianto sighed and set to work collecting empty coffee mugs. Just another day.

Ianto was busy.

This was not an unusual thing. Between keeping track of the archives, assisting distressed tourists, constantly tidying up empty pizza boxes and making everyone at least half a dozen cups of coffee a day, he didn't have much time to himself. He preferred it that way, just as he preferred to fade into the background. That had been his plan from the beginning, after all - to make himself indispensable yet unnoticed.

Nobody paid any attention when he disappeared to check on Lisa. Nobody suspected him of anything. Nobody was aware of just how much he was capable of. Always polite, always calm, always efficient. That was Ianto Jones.

It wasn't that he particularly disliked the others. After all, he'd known them for quite awhile. He knew a lot more about them than they did about him - because he preferred to stay in the shadows and observe, and because they usually forgot he was there. He could count on one hand the number of times he'd been asked anything personal. The only thing he did talk about was Lisa, as though by talking about her he could bring her back to the way she used to be. No, he didn't dislike them. It was impossible to dislike Jack, who was full of his own secrets and whose tendency to stay awake and stalk the Hub at all hours was the bane of Ianto's existence. He liked Tosh, who always had a smile and a word of thanks for him when he served her coffee. Suzie, who was strong and passionate and kept Owen in his place. And Owen... well, Ianto couldn't say he particularly liked Owen. But Owen didn't particularly like him either, so Ianto didn't feel too bad about it.

He checked his watch. Just after 3pm. Time to do another quick tidy of the Hub and serve the next round of coffees. Ianto thought he'd probably die of shock the day the rest of them learned to pick up after themselves.
